At Montecastelli™ Selections Jens and Ruth Schmidt offer their selection of Italian regional wines and foods. Traveling the vineyards of Italy, Montecastelli™ searches for the most stunning examples of wines from the over 2000 Italian grape varieties, making them available to all international markets, as Importers to the US and as Distributors to the New York – New Jersey area.

Montecastelli™ is a working farm where Jens and Ruth make Primo Olio, one of Italy’s finest olive oils, and raise Cinta Senese Pigs. This is the agricultural base from which their passion for indigenous wines and foods of Italy has evolved.

      From their home at Montecastelli™, they extend the invitation to enjoy wine and
      culinary oriented vacations as guests at their 11th century monastery farm.

Wine

As a Fine Wine broker and Importer, Montecastelli™ Selections has worked closely with vintners and enologists in Italy since 1998 sponsoring the development of Italian indigenous varietal wines. Starting from Montecastelli™, an 11th century monastery where we live and work in Tuscany, our reach has widened and today we are present in every winegrowing region in Italy selecting wines for your fine wine market. To the entire US and to northern Germany we also act as direct importers.

Distribution

In the states of NY and NJ a selection of our Italian wines, including some Italian indigenous varietal wines unique to the US market, is also available to retailers and restaurateurs. We act in these states as Distributors of our own imports and for a select number of French wines from the North Berkeley Imports Portfolio.

Olive Oil

As a Fine Food selector in Italy, Montecastelli™ Selections brings to the US: Tuscan Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil and from Modena, Artisan Balsamic vinegar and its rarified sister, 'Agrodolce,' from specially chosen small estates that rely 100% on their own agricultural production. Indigenous heirloom varietal plants paired with traditional methods revisited with today’s meticulous research deliver the most that nature can bring to your table.

Farm

Montecastelli™ is a small hilltop farm located in central Tuscany, Italy. Here is where we grow our olives for the primo OLIO™ Extra Virgin olive oil and keep our Cinta Senese pigs and here is where everything started, with our fascination for organic foods and fine wine. Originally an 11th century monastery, Montecastelli™ has been restored over the past 10 years mostly by us, into a fully functioning farm.

Villa

Montecastelli™ also offers Villa accommodation for those seeking a hidden vacation rental. The Montecastello Villa has been restored with every attention to detail and history. Only an hour from the Florence airport and 20 minutes from Siena, Montecastelli™ nestles at the foot of the Montagnola nature reserve where you can hike or mountain bike, hunt for mushrooms or walk through the woods to the next village for lunch. Enjoy the privacy of Montecastelli™ with our organically grown foods, a wine cellar of the best wines from all over Italy, our lovely swimming pool and the stunning views toward San Gimignano from your own bedroom window.
